Phil has over 37 years of international post graduate experience in consulting and research.  He is a subject matter expert in coastal dynamics, nearshore oceanography, sediment transport and geomorphology and provides strategic and technical leadership in large and small multi-disciplinary projects to support project design and environmental assessment.  Phil has led a number of coastal and fluvial geohazard risk assessments and nature-based designs to address erosion and flooding in the context of a changing climate for both public and private sector clients.  Phil and his team have conducted studies involving data collection and numerical modelling in every ocean and most seas on the planet and have received awards for offshore health & safety performance. He is also on the executive of the Nature-based Coastal Solutions Community of Practice and is the President of Coastal Zone Canada Association.
