Neville Berard, MASc, PEng

Associate, Coastal Engineer

Vancouver, BC

Neville brings 15 years of expertise with the design and construction of coastal engineering projects related to ports and terminals in her previous experiences working both in Canada and in Chile. At NHC, she enjoys the challenges related to the changing climate and particularly loves supporting small communities find innovative ways to design their shorelines for future sea levels while enhancing the marine environment. Neville thrives leading and working within multidisciplinary teams to bring innovative restoration projects to life such as the Sturgeon Banks Sediment Enhancement Pilot Project which re-uses dredged sediment or taking nature-based approaches to support Green Shores projects for shoreline recession. She believes that to be successful these projects need to look at the full scale of the coastal processes in the region and consider biology. Neville is passionate about supporting project owners who want to implement Nature based solutions who need help navigating municipal and permitting pathways so that they can avoid the easiest and typical “hard” solutions.

Neville has also been an active member of the marine community. She completed five years with the PIANC Canada Board in 2024. She was also a co-founder in 2022 of the Nature-based Coastal Solutions, Pacific Community of Practice (CoP) which hosted the highly successful NbCS Pacific Workshop in Vancouver in October 2024.
