CFD and Numerical Modelling, Coastal Engineering and Shoreline Protection
Edwin is a hydrotechnical engineer specializing in river and coastal engineering, with experience in numerical modelling for coastal engineering, river hydraulics, and sediment transport. He has contributed to numerous flood risk assessments, hazard studies, and flood mapping projects across British Columbia.
Currently, Edwin serves as the coastal engineer for the Sunshine Coast Regional District, leading both project management and technical delivery on a coastal flood mapping study. His work includes metocean analysis to define wind and wave climates, wave run-up assessments using site-specific shoreline profiles, and development of Flood Construction Level maps to support land use planning and flood risk mitigation. He recently authored the Lakeshore and Coastal Zone Analysis section of the BC Floodplain Mapping Guideline, providing methodologies for assessing wave effects, shoreline conditions, and flood hazards in coastal and large lake environments.
