Ashley is a Hydrotechnical Engineer specialising in sediment transport, river hydraulics and scour assessment, with particular focus on developing practical solutions in large rivers. Her academic training forms a background in hydraulics and sediment interaction using a combination of physical and numerical models, from which she has an extensive resume of published research. Ashley joined NHC upon completion of her Doctoral work and has since applied her knowledge and skills to develop solutions to several challenging engineering problems. She has developed and tested numerical and physical models to examine reach hydraulics, sediment transport, patterns of erosion and deposition, and for engineering decision-making and design. She has been involved in projects including scour protection assessment and detailed design, geomorphic analysis to examine channel stability, river rehabilitation studies and mitigation of sedimentation at run-of-river hydroelectric projects.
