River Restoration Northwest
2024 Symposium

Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC) offers a highly skilled team of professionals providing technical expertise in a wide range of water resource disciplines. Together with our clients, we develop innovative and effective solutions for issues related to water and earth processes in freshwater and coastal environments.

We’re different: NHC is an independent, employee-owned company providing innovative and specialized hydrotechnical engineering and geoscience consulting services. We are passionate about water and dedicated to technical excellence, our clients, and the communities we serve.

Established in 1972, NHC was founded by individuals with a strong technical background and unique focus. As we grow and evolve, we remain true to a culture that has shaped our consulting practice over the past 50 years. NHC has more than 250 employees based in 16 offices in Canada, the US, Asia, and South America. Our physical hydraulic modelling operation is the largest in western North America. Both a local and international company, NHC has completed thousands of projects across North America, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Services Offered

Our professionals analyze and design solutions in complex hydrologic and hydraulic conditions; use sophisticated modelling software; design, build, and test physical models; lead project planning, oversee project construction, and monitor effectiveness so we can use the lessons we learn to implement future projects. We are known for combining practical knowledge and experience with sophisticated modelling and analysis to devise and implement solutions for our clients that will benefit projects and communities long into the future.

We provide a full range of hydrotechnical services for projects including physical hydraulic modelling, river engineering design, modelling of computational fluid dynamics, 3D hydraulic and morphodynamic modelling, hydraulic transient analysis, fluvial and coastal geomorphology, coastal engineering, sediment transport, flood hazard assessment and risk management, hydrology, climate change, water management, hydrometrics, field services, pump station and municipal engineering, and more.
